Denise is an appellate, intellectual property, and technology lawyer who has handled matters for a wide variety of industries and individuals, including Internet, companies, video game companies, bioscience companies, real estate developers, professional sports teams, manufacturers, distributors, PR/marketing and other professional service providers, financial institutions, individuals, and non-profit organizations.
Denise is one of The Huffington Post's "Women in Tech You Need to Follow on Twitter." Her career is characterized by her passionate engagement in intellectual property issues, technology, media, and all forms of online communication. Over the past 15 years she has helped clients navigate the bleeding edge of technology law, including the legal considerations surrounding all forms of online publishing and syndication, digital copyright, digital rights management, and Internet jurisdiction, as well as the nuances of Creative Commons and other generalized licensing strategies.
Denise writes one of the first law-related weblogs, Bag and Baggage, and contributes to CBS/Interactive at Lawgarithms and Between the Lines. She hosts this WEEK in LAW on TWiT, probing the areas where technology and society intersect in ways that present new, unique, or difficult issues under existing and developing law, and produced a further audio series at IT Conversations, Sound Policy. She is a columnist for The American Lawyer magazine, a member of the Identity Gang, Project VRM, a board member of the Attention Trust, and an advisory board member of Lisensa/Top Ten Media and the Law and Policy Institutions Guide. She is a past President and Board member of Commercial Real Estate Women of Orange County, and a member of the Council of Appellate Lawyers, as well as the American, Orange County (Appellate Section) and Los Angeles County (Appellate Courts Committee) bar associations.
