What about office copying machines? They have hard drives that saves every copy made on the machine, and anyone can buy a used one and take the hard drive out and download any document the you had made a copy of. So what copying machine do you use? And what is the policy in dealing with this hard drive? I bet your office has no clue of the privacy issues going out the door with the 'broken' copy machine.

Funny, just yesterday my new partner and I were working on our office procedures manual and she brought that very thing up. We put a scanner/copier drive destruction policy into the office procedures manual.

PS3s were being advertised as allowing you to install other operating systems. this wasn't an hack that Sony removed. I don't know if it was listed on the box, but it was used in selling the box. The us government bought 3000 ps3 to make into a linix supercomputer baced on this feature, not hack.

I'm late, but wanted to make a quick comment on Facebook lists and status updates. There is a lot of granularity on who you can let see or not see each status update on Facebook. Before you post the update, click on the lock icon next to the Share button and set it to Everyone, Friends, Friends of Friends or use Customize to lock out specific lists or even individuals.

There's always the argument that it may just not work or that Facebook may change things in the future... it is true that Facebook's policies and UI aren't reliable long term. But the option is there and by the lack of useless political rants on my wall from a few of my friends... it seems to work so far :)
